- Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 1 Episode 11 – Out of Mind, Out of Sight
- Open at Sunnydale High with our favorite student Cordelia
- This is probably the first Cordelia-intense episode of the series and thank god!
- They are beginning to discuss the end of the school year. This would be their sophomore year.
- Talking about her dress for the end of school dance. Having dress specially made “off the rack gives me hives”
- Walking through the halls discussing Cordelia’s immanent election as the May Queen.
- Buffy comes plowing out of the library and crashes into the group spilling her bag of goodies, stakes etc. all over the floor of the hallway.
- Cordelia and Harmony scoff and talk about Buffy’s permanent weirdness.
- Cordelia turns to her beau and says “Did I ever tell you about the time she attacked me at the bronze.”
- Buffy is obviously bothered by the way Cordelia mocks her. She is hurt I think because she used to be part of that popular crowd.
- Next scene begins with the lines “if you prick us, do we not bleed?”
- This is an interesting scene in my opinion.
- They are discussing the Merchant of Venice
- Cordelia and Willow are discussing in a class setting the play. However, their discussion is on a deeper level as they are talking about their own individual roles in the hierarchy of the school.
- Mitch (Cordelia’s beau) is in the boy’s locker room.
- Talking to some of the guys about getting his tux for the dance. Guy locker room talk about Cordelia, playing the macho guy up.
- Invisible girl shows up giggling at Mitch and for no apparent reason, picks up a bat and beats the unholy crap out of him a la boiler room smoking chic.
- Credits
- Buffy’s locker
- Cordelia is walking through the halls passing out chocolates to encourage votes for the May Queen.
- Tells Buffy she can’t have one; she doesn’t need the loony fringe vote.
- Xander and Willow show up, discuss Cordelia trying to hard.
- Xander doesn’t know what kind of moron would want to be May Queen anyway… Buffy does.
- Turns out Buffy was a may queen equivalent at her old school. You can see that she misses those days.
- One of Mitch’s buddies comes running down the halls. Mitch has been found beaten up.
- Snyder is trying to control the situation; there are no dead bodies in his school, this week.
- Buffy and gang stop Mitch on his way out, he tells them about the floating bat that attacked him.
- Buffy starts to go investigate the crime scene.
- Snyder stops her and starts to comment about how she is always sticking her nose in things.
- Willow mentions that Mitch might sue the school and immediately Snyder’s attention is diverted and Buffy goes into the boy’s locker room.
- Buffy finds the bat on the floor, the beat up lockers.
- When she closes the locker doors, someone has spray-painted “LOOK” on the locker doors.
- In the cafeteria, Buffy, Xander and Willow are discussing “LOOK”.

- Buffy at this point has already ruled out monsters.
- Giles has narrowed it down to telekinesis, invisible creature, and poltergeist.
- Time to research

- Xander help Giles research in the library
- Buffy is going to find out what she can about Mitch.

- Harmony catches up with Cordelia who wasn’t in fifth period
- Cordelia went to the hospital.
- Some kind of strange flashback here.
- Cordelia and Harmony in the same spot at school talking about Mitch what seems to have been a few weeks ago.
- When Cordelia and Harmony reach the top of the stairs, Buffy stops them and wants to talk to Cordelia, before she gets the chance; Harmony is flung down the stairs by…
- Snyder shows up obviously irritated that another student has been injured.
- When Harmony explains that she thinks someone pushed her down the stairs, Buffy hears the invisible girl laughing.
- Buffy follows the giggling upstairs and sees a door close.
- End of the day at Sunnydale high
- Buffy and gang are leaving school.
- Buffy asks Giles if he has ever touched a ghost.
- He describes a cold amorphous feeling.
- We have now officially narrowed it down to a girl on campus with the ability to become invisible.
- Trying to figure out who the girl is or the motivation the common denominator between Harmony and Mitch is Cordelia.
- Buffy is going to tail Cordelia, she is going to be working on her May Queen dress tonight she will see if there is any action.
- Next scene Buffy stalking the school halls looking for an invisible girl.
- Buffy watches Cordelia from the hallway with a look of longing.
- Now Buffy hears a flute playing in another part of the school.
- Giles is researching in the library and hears the flute as well.
- Next Giles hears a creaking in the stacks
- This is the first time that Giles has met Angel.
- Angel is here to see Giles.
- Giles asks if Angel is here looking for Buffy.
- Angel says no it is too hard for him to be around her.
- Angel knows that Giles has been researching the Master. Giles refers to the Master as the vampire king.
- Giles is trying to learn as much about the Master as he can for the day that Buffy has to face him.

- We get our first look at the invisible girl.
- She is in the girls’ bathroom with our Cordelia
- Invisible girl is trying her best to fit in with Cordelia’s group and participate in the conversation. They ignore her for the most part except for when they snap at her for intruding in the conversation.
- Sunnydale courtyard and Cordelia has been named the May Queen.
- Buffy, Xander and Willow are discussing the list of missing kids that Willow put together. Willow notices the two creepy guys hanging out. We have scene them once before in this episode.
- Willow thinks that maybe Cordelia hired bodyguards.
- Buffy kind of ignores Willow when she sees Marcie Ross disappeared six months ago. Marcie played the flute, which explains the mysterious flute that Buffy heard in the school halls.
- Buffy goes back to the band room to try and find Marcie.
- Finds a dusty set of footprints leading up to the ceiling.
- In the plenum of the school ceiling, Buffy finds Marcie’s roost.

- Cordelia comes in and finds her unconscious but she lives.
- Marcie writes on the board “LISTEN”
- Buffy is back in the library with the gang.

- Buffy, Xander and Willow react to the fact that Marcie had no friends. Everyone wrote in her yearbook “Have a nice summer.”
- Giles: Once again I teeter at the precipice of the generation gap.
- No one noticed her and now she’s invisible.
- People perceived Marcie as invisible and so she became so. It is a combination of Quantum Mechanical Physics and the Hellmouth.
- Another flashback where the class is participating in a discussion and Marcie is constantly overlooked; at this point she begins to become invisible.
- Back in the library.
- This isn’t a power that Marcie can control. This was done TO her.
- Based on the evidence in the yearbook, Marcie is after Cordelia.
- Just then Cordelia shows up in the library looking for help.
- After some visible mental pondering; the group decides to help Cordelia.
- Marcie is now going nuts in her loft above the band hall. She has now gone off the deep end.
- Back in the library the group is discussing the two messages Marcie has left them, LOOK – LISTEN
- Buffy doesn’t think they are supposed to understand yet, something else is coming.
- Group decides to use Cordelia as bait.
- Cordelia and Buffy are walking through the school halls talking about Marcie.
- Bummer that Marcie turned invisible because she was so unpopular.
- Cordelia feels like she can be surrounded by people; and be completely alone, no one really knows her.
- If you feel so alone then why do you work so hard at being popular
- Beats being alone all by yourself.
- Back in the library
- Xander, Willow and Giles hear a flute playing in the halls.
- They go looking for Marcie.
