Principal Snyder - Patsy or Willing Participant?

What did Principal Snyder know and when did he know it? I know that he knew that there was evil in Sunnydale, but did he know that the mayor was a demon? He didn't seem to know, but I want to discuss what exactly he did know. What were his motivations?

I reckon he had an incling that something wasn't right, but he's such a snivelling toadie that he didn't question it and preferred to stay near the power, even though it was a bit suss (look at his Peter Pettigrew-esque behaviour in Band Candy- it's just always been his way)

I think he knew something was up, and that the Mayor was part of the bad, but in his view the Mayor was also doing some good, so he reconcilled himself with it that way. I just don't think he knew the extent of it. He was genuinely shit scared when he saw Mayor Snake!!!

... Though the whole, "I'm about to be eaten," thing tends to do that to people.

I think Snyder was on a "Need to know" basis with the Mayor
Like when it involved Snyder or the School or Buffy....he was told the top layer of what was about to go down(or what went down)....But I don't think it was anything substantial.....everything seemed to Scare him to a degree.
When He busts in on the Mayor and Buffy doing their Willow-Gravlocks trade....He clearly wasn't told....and sure you can make an arguement for it being short notice....But what the Frak was he doing at the school so late for anyway??Lol........He also had no idea what was in the Box....or that the Mayor was gonna go all Snakey in Grad Day P1&2.
I believe he knew Sunnydale was on a Hellmouth.
But wether he knew what that truely meant....is debatable.
