It's one of the swiss'er episodes of Buffy...and by swiss ,I mean HOLE-y.

I don't watch it often but when I do I enjoy the craziness.

Someone needs to make a clip of all the Riley come on's...just to prove how creepy and stalkerish and pushy he is.Lol

I like this episode, not because of the very poor end of the world storyline, but I absolutely love Spike's journey from being totally depressed to taking at least small pleasure in taunting Xander and Willow to his wonderful discovery that he can hurt demons. From then on, his character is pure gold, from "I'm back and I'm a bloody animal", to his last speech which is one of my favorite Spike moments ever.

"What's this? Sitting around watching the telly while there's evil still afoot? That's not very industrious of you. I say we go out there and kick a little demon ass! What, can't go without your Buffy, is that it? Too chicken? Let's find her! She is the Chosen One after all. Come on! Vampires! Grrr! Nasty! Let's annihilate them. For justice - and for - the safety of puppies - and Christmas, right? Let's *fight* that evil! - Let's *kill* something!"

"Oh, come on!"

My favorite, and I don't remember which episode it's from was something like "well, I'm not going to force myself on you" - as if she couldn't kick his ass with one hand tied behind her back.  As always. an overinflated opinion of himself.

I keep trying to find some way not to dislike Riley.  And when I'm not actually watching the show, I can occasionally come up with something that makes me sympathetic to him.  Like the fact that Buffy will never love him despite his love for her, and his acknowledgment of that fact in the Replacement.  Or the fact that he loses his entire sense of identity and purpose in life when he leaves the military in New Moon Rising.  The problem is, when I am actually watching him, my sympathy goes out the door, because he's so damn annoying.  He's just so hard to take.  Sorry, Bryan.

This episode is very messy, but Spike is fantastic in it.

Thank God for the return of the Riley-love from Bryan.  To be honest the Riley-hate on previous episodes was excessive and beginning to become a problem for me.
