I, on the other hand, really like the rogue demon hunter Wesley. he is something completely different from the other main characters.  I actually don't mind him becoming more competent, but I wish that he had retained more of his initial goofy personality. Making his a dark brooding character was for me too much overlap with Angel.  I also prefer Lilah and Lindsey to the nondescript Wolfram and Hart flunky used in this episode.

I just like the character of Wesley in all his incarnations! So far he's been hilarious as an inadequate Watcher and as rogue demon hunter (What's a rogue demon?  Grin ). In general, I loove early seasons-Wesley because when it comes to brooding noone can compete with Angel  Smiley
And I love the episode as well. I must say I wasn't a Doyle fan and although found his passing appropriately tragic didn't miss him at all and was very happy to see Wesley. Of course, at that time I don't think I knew who Wesley was, because I watched both series in some crazy order. Be that as it may, I found this episode hilarious and great and didn't mind the plot holes or whatever pointed out in the podcast. In fact, I didn't notice them, blinded as I was by all the hilarity going on  Smiley

I started to miss Goofy Wes in the later seasons...but Dark Wes was when I started to really invest feelings in that Character.

Wesley is just fun...and soooo tortured even befor his firing from the Watcher's.

And I'm a Big Fredly shipper.Lol

I think this is an okay episode. It reminds me of some of the earlier episodes of BtVS, like 'Beauty and the Beasts', where it feels like either the writers didn't trust themselves to do a whole episode without monster-of-the-week aspects or the network required to include stuff that was wrapped up in a single episode.

Oh, and W&H bidding just $30,000 for Cordy's eyes? Considering all the effort they go to later to severe the connection between Angel and TPTB, this seems like a really low sum to pay.

Well, it is an auction, you only have to outbid the other bidders, perhaps they were willing to pay a much higher price for Cordy's eyes.

And if I recall correctly their bid was considerably higher than the previous bid!
