If Joyce had not come to Angel with her concerns, do you think he would have broken up with Buffy? How about the Mayor?

I think it was inevitable. The issues were obvious - can't have children, she will age, he won't, etc.  The only way I could see it working is if something like what happened in I Will Remember You happened, where Angel became human, but he torpedoed that one pretty quickly.

If it hadn't been Joyce, it would have been someone else. Joyce, The Mayor, and Spike were all saying pretty much the same thing, and if it hadn't been them, it would have someone else, Giles for example. I can't imagine, for example, Anya or Cordelia, being tactful enough to dance around the truth of the situation.

Looong time coming.

God only knows how long it would have continued if Angel never went off to L.A,I reckon many of the characters would have said something..but we know buffy doesn't really listen.
If I remember correctly doesn't she hoodwink Angel back into the relationship(in S3)anyway?He was very against getting back together.

Regardless I think Angel would have ended it....probably half way through s4.
College would definitely have broke them.

It's a forbidden relationship. Thats what makes it so great. I believe one of them would have ended it at some point. I just think Joyce confirmed what he was already thinking.

@Mike

I agree.  Angel knows he has to leave.  He's like an animal ready to chew its leg off to get out of a trap in that scene where Buffy first starts talking about the prom.  Just like any older guy going out with a high school girl who knows it has to stop, because they're at different places in their lives; only there are so many other, deeper, insurmountable problems for the two of them.
