If I don't see any feedback on this post in this thread I will find a more active thread to post it in.

Good podcast this week. Keep em coming!!!

I never understood why Angel went food crazy when becoming human again in this episode. In later episodes on BTVS Spike raves about how much he likes the bloomin onions and he has a love for certain types of liquor like brandy and whiskey. So which is it does human food for a vampire have taste or not?

Angel was always a hard character for me to figure out because from a writers perspective in order to advance his current storyline and create plots for him they had to create a back story which often conflicted with his back story on BTVS. Here are some examples:

1) On BTVS it was established that Angel never fed off a human after his soul was restored but on Angel when Angelus and Faith shared a flashback Angel feeds off the guy that was shot in the diner. So either Angel lied to Buffy about his past (which isn't out of the ordinary lying to a girl about something you were ashamed of) or the writers on Angel ignored what was already established.

2) On BTVS we are lead to believe that up until Angel comes to Sunnydale he moped around in existence underground with no contact with other humans or demons and just feeding off of rats. It wasn't until The Whistler found him in bad shape at nearly rock bottom that he decided to find his purpose and fight the good fight.  However on Angel we find out that he did things like hung out and partied with The Rat Pack, worked with the US Navy and slept with The Furies.

3) On BTVS we are lead to believe that the gypsy curse made Angel suffer and feel nothing but remorse and guilt for his acts as Angelus. However on Angel when he first takes up residence at the Hyperion hotel in the 1950's he seemed to be more pissed at the world and wanted to be left alone more than he seemed tortured and crying out for help for his past sins. He even let the Thesulac demon kill all of the people at the hotel after they tried to hang him as a form of get back. Hardly the act of a cursed tortured soul yearning for penance.

With all of that said either that gypsy curse was somewhat overrated and didn't make Angel suffer as much as we thought or something happened off screen sometime after the event at the Hyperion Hotel in the 50's to make Angel hate himself and retreat to the sewers and streets living off of vermin and acting all scared and sad like the state he was in when he encountered Buffy for the first time on the way to the bronze.

Speaking of the curse... Did the Angel writers forget all about it when they wrote the storyline of him and Cordelia falling in love with each other? Wouldn't Cordelia show some caution when falling for Angel and wanting a relationship with him because of the curse and seeing what she saw when Angel and Buffy fell in love and felt total happiness? Or was Cordelia content with having a love with Angel that couldn't hold a candle to the love he had with Buffy. I just don't see Cordelia accepting his love for her NOT being forbidden enough to remove his soul. For arguments sake I will say that maybe because Cordelia became a part demon the curse only worked if Angel felt love and total happiness with a human. I guess all bets were off with his feelings for other demons much like his love he felt for Darla.

I think he talked about, on AtS, that one perfect moment of happiness is so rare that it wouldn't mean he couldn't be in love with Cordelia or have a great life and relationship. Maybe he would never be able to have a moment of true happiness again because of the knowledge that he would go all Angelus on everyone.

I want to respond to other things in your post, too, but I have to get back to raising children. Will try to respond more later.
