I just wanted to say about Spike using the computer and finding Buffy's dorm room number... My university had a directory with our address, email, and phone number which was easily accessed by the university website.  Now I have checked my university site and the feature has since been removed but back in 2000 it was!  So maybe...it wasn't hard to find at all.

I asked tp be the guest on this episode very early on because I like the episode quite a bit and many fans don't. The Buffy Perspective web site, for example, didn't have it in their top 100 episodes, and in the top 5 episodes by season thread here at the Hellmouth forums, I was the only one to mention The Initiative until quite recently.

Bob, I wanted to mention that I agree with you about the Spike/Willow scene.  It's one of my very favorite scenes in all of BtVS as well.  You could do a whole podcast just about that scene.  It represents everything I love most about the show -- it's both funny and clever, and you can enjoy it purely for the humor; but it also reveals so much about both characters, and about the similarities between Willow and Spike ( which will become even more apparent when we learn more of Spike's history in Fool for Love).  JM and AH are both wonderful -- I always wish they had more scenes with just the two of them together. Also, I'm a fan of The Prisoner.  I was in Wales a few years ago, and dragged people I was traveling with to Portmeirion Village, where it was filmed.  They were bored, but it was great!

I think the fuzzy sweater Spike refers to is the one Willow is wearing in Lovers Walk.  This may be mentioned on commentary somewhere.

Lastly, it was Missy and me who had the forum chat about Forrest and Professor Walsh crushing on Riley.  I'm sticking to it.  Missy?

I forgot to mention the absolute worst thing about my watching Buffy during S4.  My wife would compare me to Riley, which would make me cringe. I would object, and she would say "but I like Riley".  At this point I would recognize an argument which could not be won and give up.

Given what we learned about Spike in the Angel ep. "Why We Fight", I like that Spike mentioned Nazis as one of his possible captors.

One of my favorite things about The Initiative (this episode and the story arc in particular) is watching for the quick shots of all of the different demons there.  That speaks volumes about the show that they would take the time to have authentic looking demons, even if they were going to be in the shot for only a second.  This is contrasted with one of my favorite Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes "Attack of The The Eye Creatures" (what it says verbatim on the title card) where they only had the budget for a few full-length eye creature costumes, so we see a few shots of folks in creature costumes from the waist up and wearing black pants.

Oh and 'twern't me that espoused the Willow/Oz theory mentioned in the podcast.  I like Oz fine and just sort of think that it was a bad situation all around.

@Beth

Right there with ya.

It's the only way his passive agressiveness towards buffy can be tolerated(and even then it's strained),He is a jerk to her....and his reasoning?I was by Riley's side befor you?WTF Lol.

Even if it wasn't intentional,Leonard played those scenes sooo intense that it just came across that way.

For me Riley and Graham were closer and he never pulled that jerky stuff with Buffy,Graham seemed to be fine with Riley and Buffy's relationship...and they were very friendly.

@Missy

I think it had to be intentional.  It seems so overt to me.  But I admit, I respond to stuff that feels slashy.

@Angie

You need ask a writer if any of Forrest Homo Eroticness was intentional.
Or this will bug me forever.Lol

@Beth

I'm not into slash(unless done incredibly well)
But the same thing happened back in april when Scream 4 came out(pun not intended)and I was beyond certain that one of the new Characters was gay.(I was told by afew fans that I was just looking for a gay character,but honestly I don't prejudge anything ..because you always wind up being disappointed.

@Missy
I agree that slash is not enjoyable unless really, really well done.  But I was on the Forrest/Riley thing before I'd ever even heard of slash.

It came up briefly in the podcast, but the way the Watchers' Council spends its money is really scandalous.  Kendra has to fly cargo and has only one shirt, and Faith has to scrape up money for a dingy motel, while the watchers (of course, not Giles) are treated to kayaking retreats in the Cotswills.  It reminds me of nothing so much as college athletes not getting paid and being severely restricted as to what jobs they can have, while the universities make money selling their jerseys and the coaches make millions. i guess adults have always been willing to take advantage of gullible teenagers.  Buffy's catching onto the Council, first in season 3 and then later in season 5, are some of her best moments of the series.

I despise the Watcher's Council.
