New podcast up! A lot of potential discussion behind this particular episode, considering we've all been in a shady (non) relationship, in one form or another. Also....

First of all, let me just say that I meant to say "upstart," not startup, during the podcast.

Also, by no means should I be the only one TMI-ing us about their college (non)relationships. Please share, people, so I don't get the feeling that I was the only one who fell for the whole "I smoke clove cigarettes so I must be deep" routine.

Weeell... I would share my experiences, but (1) I didn't go to college, and (2) I wouldn't want everyone here to start calling me a bastard too.

First off, great job, Angie, you were my favorite Hellmouth guest so far (myself included), I love the enthusiasm  I won't be able to listen to the interview until tomorrow, but I am looking forward to that.

As to the idea of female Parkers, even if they exist, I don't think it matters so much.  Guys don't react the same way with being used for sex and then abandoned. That's pretty much what happened to Xander with Faith, and he wasn't particularly upset about it.  The only time a guy is going to think that sez was a bad idea the following day is when the girl 1)wants to stick around, AND 2)is insane - you know, like Bryan's stalker.  If she leaves he may have wished that it went on longer, but the downside is pretty limited. So, overall, I don't think that female Parkers would be nearly as big a problem as *bastard* Parker was.

Thanks, Bob! I had fun recording this time. The first episode I recorded with Bryan was for The Zeppo. I thought it was good, but I was super nervous. I was much less nervous this time, for some reason.

I meant to comment on how well Angie did.

I'm not a big podcast listener, but all of the ones I do make time for are co-hosted or team casts.

I know it's hard for Bryan to have someone on the show with him every podcast, but it really adds for the listeners to have someone to bounce ideas and concepts off of.

STINKY PARKER MAN
Angie your right noone likes him Smiley

I Love Anya,Spike and Harmony coming back.

Unlike 'In The Dark' I know why I don't watch 'The Harsh Light Of Day' often(Though funnily enough I watch this ep alot.I think it's Anya that has me siting through the Parker bullshit)

I do have a story but it was High School(Never attended College)and it involved me acting like Buffy and a female Parker...on top of a Regular Parker.

If you wanna hear just let me know.

Great job on the podcast Angie (and Bryan)!

As you mentioned, Angie, I do think this is our first glimpse of shirtless Spike (and I thank whoever made that creative decision). But, um, can we talk about his crawl up the bed? Wow! That boy has mad skills. Sorry to inflict my enthusiasm about this scene on those of you who don't...respond to it the same way I do.

Re: the question of female Parkers -- I've never met one, either. I agree with bdegrande to the extent that, a woman who's just looking for sex doesn't need to engage in the whole song and dance, fake seduction thing, because it's generally not a big struggle to find guys who are happy to have sex with you. But I don't agree that Xander wasn't upset about being used by Faith. I think he was hurt by that, and the hurt stayed with him. And I think that's shown in this episode.  Check out Xander after he has sex with Anya, and she says she's over him.  He gets this kind of broken, resigned look on his face, and I think it's because, based on his experience with Faith, he expects to be abandoned after having sex, even though he's hoping he won't be. And it just reinforces how horrible he feels about himself, like he doesn't deserve to be loved or appreciated.  It breaks my heart.  I love Xander so much this season.

I had a guy in college say that I'm similar to Parker...which I was not true but let me explain.

While trying to find myself in college I joined a bible study, I met a guy and hung out with him for a while.  Now we didn't sleep together but I spent hours talking to him late in our dorm rooms.  After going to the bible study quite a bit I realized when they told me I needed to donate money and get rebaptized and all this I felt at this point they were a cult.  I told potential boyfriend about how i felt this and said I didn't feel comfortable with them and he got all freaked out and basically told everyone that I had some serious issues and basically implied that I used him and then discarded him and I was lost into the sinful world.  I actually had to regain my reputation after that.  Oddly that very same guy did end up apologizing to me during senior year but I remember being so devastated about it because I'm so not a heartbreaker.  Lol

Haven't listened to the podcast yet, so I don't know if you mentioned this . . .

I really liked the shot at the end, with Buffy, Anya and Harmony walking, us seeing them from above but none of them seeing each other (apparently).  Just thought it was a great closing shot to a fine episode.

You got up to get a drink during the podcast?!? Travesty!

The scene at the end was interesting. I think since we recorded such a long episode and were recording another one right after we just wanted to move on to In the Dark. I guess I spent too much time exorcising my own parkers to actually discuss the ep.  Wink

It's become a Hellmouth tradition. In the very early Hellmouth episodes, Bryan used to recap the Buffy episodes in great detail. Now it's a few minutes, followed by talking about what actually matters.  I think it's an improvement.
