I've started rewatching this season. It has a few bearable moments, but at this point Buffy is ridiculously unlikable in her General role. My least favourite moments: Drill Instructor Kennedy, Buffy making speeches (any speech), the First making speeches, the First successfully pretending to be a potential, the First breaking every rule on the Evil Overlord list with gleeful abandon, the ScytheAxe, the amulet, the Guardian temple...

There are some admittedly very good episodes, but at best Season 7 is at least as inconsistent in quality as Season 6. At worst, its overall plot has to be moved along by cliched moments, a harmless villain and even requires an outright Deus Ex Machina to solve.

I've always thought that a Big Bad who was incorporeal was the most ridiculous thing.
I still don't fully believe the Scoobies managed to kill The First.
Sure they killed a Hellmouth full of Uber Vamps and some Bringers.....But where does it say it was possible to kill The First.....They always used the term defeat.

All I take away from the final season is Vi.....Cheesy She is in my Top5 Vampire Slayers.

I hated The First (the whole incorporeal thing) and thought that there were too many potentials introduced to get to know their individual personalities.  When I saw Lessons for the first time, I thought this was going to be a great season, I loved the callbacks to the Big Bads, and I was feeling nostalgic for Sunnydale High, so I was happy to see it back.  I did like some of the new characters, Caleb, and Robin Wood being a slayer's son was a great twist.  Toward the end of the season, I started to like Buffy (the character) for the first time in years. I loved seeing Faith back - one of the things I had always wanted to see was a scene between Faith and Spike, and we got a few of them.  I thought that they managed to pull off something quite difficult, pulling off a satisfying ending to a great series.  Not one of my favorite seasons, but it's a lot of people's least favorite, and that certainly isn't the case with me.

I had real issues in season seven mostly because I thought the group was harder on Spike than it was on Angel, which i think is unfair.

Parts of season 7 I adore!  I enjoyed the evolution of Dawn's character.  I thought James Marsters performance as the much conflicted Soulful Spike was simply brilliant.  I loved learning more about Anya....Selfless is one of my favorite episodes of all time!  I adored "Conversations with Dead People"

I had issues Angel showing up and not once mentioning Cordelia.  I realize that perhaps Xander and Cordy had fallen out of touch BUT I mean it seems unfair that they would not have mentioned that at all.  I won't say what happened because this isn't the Angel board but still.

I didnt hate the first I thought it was an exciting way to bring everyone back for the end.

I'm sure we will discuss specifics later but I think that season 7 gets a bad rap.... But I enjoyed it!
